To reduce the number of unsolicited telemarketing calls and faxes consumers receive, the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) launched the National Do Not Call List on September 30, 2008.

The National Do Not Call List is a nationwide registry. Consumers must sign up to have their cellular, home phone or fax numbers included on the List. You can sign up online at www.lnnte-dncl.gc.ca or by calling the toll-free numbers 1.866.580.DNCL (1.866.580.3625) or 1.888.DNCL.TTY (1.888.362.5889). Even if you register with the National Do Not Call List, companies with which you have an existing commercial relationship are permitted to call you.
